i just got a small oscar from Wal-Mart tywo days ago the only thing they feed them were live rosy reds
i want to change him to ciclid pelets but i don't know how
the only thing he'll eat is the rosy reds
i've got them in my 55 gallon to quarentine them so if all else fails i can feed him them so he won't starve
any ideas on how to gt him to eat pelets?
i don't want him to eat feeders for the rest of his life

wait a couple days, try pellets, if he does'nt eat wait another. He'll eat soon.

Yep, you just have to be patient and wait him out.

ok i'm just worried he'll starve
i'm a big worrier btw
he's in my 20 gallon temporarly
he was laying on his side and not doing so good in the 55 so i set up a 20 gallon i had lying around, put a cycled filter on it,a heater, and added a handfull of gravel from a old tank
now he's swimming and looking happy
how long can he go with out eating
he's determind he doesn't want pellets
i'm worried stress and not eating will kill him

He can go weeks without food. But I'm sure your Oscar will not hold out for that long.

Temp him with pellets that are small (relative to his size), if he doesn't want them, remove them after about 10-15 mins. Keep count on how many you threw in, so you know if he ate them or not. He'll eventually come out of it, especially if he's young (I kinda assume he is, if you got him at walmart).
