Hello all, so right now I have a Fluval 110 over the back filter on my 75 gal and it is cycled and has all the good bacteria BUT this monday my Fluval FX6 is coming and I'll be replacing the 110. The only problem I see is that I don't want to restart the cycling process after I take the old filter off. What can I do to prevent this? Thanks for the help.

Leave the old filter on the tank for a couple weeks.

I would leave the 110 on for 1month, or not sure if you could place the sponge from 110 in fx6. If you can place the sponge in the fx6, then you could remove 110.

personally I would keep both on the tank, I run both canisters and HoB,s AC110 on all my tanks, they are much better at mech filtration while canister better bio filtration.

I'd just take the bio out of the old filter and put in the new one. BB colony will be in the old media anyway so it doesnt change much. Like tlindsey said i would also cram the foam in somewhere too.

Past couple of years ive changed filters several times never had a problem
