I purchased my 150 Gallon Tank which came RR. It came with two huge corner overflows that were really ugly. I removed them and plugged the holes in the bottom with bulkheads , and have been using canisters since I keep Freshwater.

I am now wanting to go to a sump system , but not sure how to utilize the holes in the bottom. I guess it is a good thing I am a pack rat so I did keep the overflows I removed , but I really don't want to use them.

What options do I have besides those prebuilt overflows ?

You have very few options that will look better than the overflows. Were they just the standard black ones? How many holes per corner are there?

You could do durso standpipes, although I find them uglier and less reliable than an overflow. You could also have holes drilled up near the top and add a new overflow box near the top that doesnt go all the way to the bottom, check glass-holes.com for examples. You could also do a hang on the back overflow. You will just see the inner box near the top of the tank. They work fairly well once you get them set up and dont take too much space in the tank. This is probably your best course of action if you dont want to look at the ones that came with the tank.
