Ive got this very fine pure white sand which makes cleaning absolutely impossible. I can not use any kind of vac becuase it only sucks up sand and nothing else. I have tried absolutely EVERYTHING. So my question is what are your opinions on changing my sand to a nice pool filter sand?? If i did should i leave my white sand on the bottom and mabye take a little bit out. Or should i try to take all the sand out? If i did this i would keep all of my rocks in but i think i might be taking out too much bacteria? what are your suggestions..

To clean the fine sand you dont need to plunge the vac into the sand just wave it around about an inch or so above the surface of the sand. The only time you need to plunge the vac into the substrate is if you have gravel or large grain substrate that debris falls into. But if your set on removing the sand just use the gravel vac and siphon the sand into a bucket sitting in a sink so the sand settles in the bucket and lets the water run out of the top of the bucket and down the drain. Or if you want to just leave it in there just put the new PFS over top of the fine stuff the larger grains will stay on top of the fine sand.
