So i just ran out of my last reserves of food for my stingrays. Which compiled of Swai, Squid, shrimp and smelt.
Here is the approximate percentages:

Swai - 35%
Shrimp - 35%
Squid - 20%
Bluefish - 10%

i have been stocking up on fishes and shrimp over the past few months when i see that some meats are on sale. Pricewise i dont mind much but i would like to save some money. right now squid is the cheapest for mass to $ ratio. Is there any issues with feeding too much squid? i head that squid has alot of Thiamines or w.e they are called and is the chemical that is bad in feeder goldfish. Does anyone know about this? i would like to add more squid to the diet. and less shrimp. i will add tilapia and other fishes when i can.

I give my twins massavore almost exclusively with the occasional earthworm treat and I keep the seafood for myself lol.I'm not sure of the thiaminaise content in squid or just how much nutrition it provides .

My rays won't eat pellets :/ which is unfortunate but seafood is cheaper than those pellets. I'm not too sure either... My main concern is weight management

I was lucky in that mine started eating pellets within days of being in my tank.

Theres nothing wrong with squid. I've been feeding my Rays with squid for many years. 0f course their diet is mixed with market prawns and fish meat, but squid is part of their main diet. I never use live feeders. Never ...
