Changing Substrate

Hi I currently have 200 litre 4foot tank with a white crushed coral type substrate and I'm wanting to change it to sand in an effort to permanently lower the ph from 8+ closer to 7 and also because I like sand look how do I do this without altering the ph too suddenly and stressing the fish

What is the hardness of your tap water? If you're worried about it but not interested in/able to test hardness then just keep some crushed shell/coral in your filter for a while after removing the coral sand.

So I can remove all the coral and add the sand as long as I keep some coral in one I've my canister filters shelves?

I don't have the means to test hardness at home but could take some to a lfs if it's heaps important
