Changing substrates

I want to know how difficult is it to change from rock to sand?? I have two O's at the moment. Can i keep them in there after the change becuase the water will be cloudy i'll most likely take 50% or more of the water out also is that okay.

There are some great threads on this very subject, on this site. There is some awesome insite and suggestions. Try doing an advance search. BTW: I made the change. It was not hard at all. looks good.

I made a change from red gravel to black, and it was somewhat of a pain, but it's worth it to get what you want.
