Is there anything special I should do while cleaning out a SW tank and making it into a FW tank? Should I change out any sump plumbing? How worried should I be about transferring bacteria/parasites from that tank to my fish when that tank is cycled for my fish?

I just got lucky and got a 90 gallon SW tank for free from Craigslist as the owner wants to focus on his larger tanks.:nilly: The tank is being drained at the moment and the owner states there is red algae on the glass that will need to be razored off. Is a razor the best and most efficient way to remove the red algae? Absolutely any input would be appreciated.

The red algae is carolline algae. Take a razor and scrap it off. I would then wash the tank with vinegar and let it dry completely. I would also soak any plumbing, etc in vinegar. Should be fine.
