So Im changing my 125 display tank to something a little more well display. right now i have a midas a r.d. 2 rtcxtsn an achara cat in there. so needless to say not much action and less decor! looking for some opinions and hopefully pics, was thinking of doing either mixed africans, or a s.a. community angels tetras so on and so forth. but im terribly indecisive and the wife says do whatever you want. so what would fellow mfkers do for a less than monster fish set up?:WHOA:

id get as many neons as my walet would allow and have it heavaly planted with some snails that wouldnt eat my plants; and fresh water clams (although they could uproot the plants, so maby). some day some day

africans sound sweet iv never had them myself so who knows.

or a puffer tank would be cool get a whole lot of dwarf puffers (not sure on how many you could have).

i thought about planted, but i just dont have the funds to set it up right, and im not much for going half way. the scads of neons and fake plants is in the back of my mind though, just worried about the daily pulling them out of the overflow. but i think it would be AWESOME like 150+ school. anyone have neons with a 1200~ gph and dual overflows?

the only reason Im thinking africans is because thats about the only group of fish I have kept none of. I have kept rays and other extremely high maintenance fish but Im trying to keep that tank as a hobby now no longer as a full time obsession. with a mortgage and 2 little kids I just have ways Id rather spend my time than changing water and i dont have the money to get the food for all that :)
Ive also thought of going as closed to self sustaining as possible have a pseudo food chain with guppies and the like and 1 or 2 small predatory fish
i always find myself since i started keeping amazxon themed tanks and I love them like I said I just suck at making decisions.

Want to post up a picture

The entire point of this thread was to get suggestions.. He's planning on changing his current set up. [fool]

Blue pill- you can get bulk neons cheap from suppliers. I think they're about $0.50 from TFD? only catch with them is that the minimum order is $200

Africans would be a good way to go. Get a bunch of pool filter sand, go grab a bunch of rocks from the nearest landscaping supply, build yourself some nice rock formations.

You could have compatibility issues, depending on what species you decide to use. I have a 90 gallon heavily rocked african tank in my dining room, and guests usually spend most of their time watching fish dive in and out of rocks.

Bonus is that if you're not in a huge hurry to have a fully stocked tank, you could put a few females and a male of each species, and let the babies take over!!:)

I have yellow labs, socolofi, acei, and rusties in my tank. You could potentially add red zebras or something else for extra color. The zebras could potentially cross breed with the labs, but with big enough schools of each, it shouldn't be a problem. Just don't sell any fry out of the tank if you have both there.

It's understood what he is doing. I wanted him to post a picture so I can see his style then I could further explain what I think he should change :footinmou

I put 200 neons in a 110 gallon, and it didnt even make a dent. It looked like I had 12 in a 30 gallon tank... You'd probably need 1500 to get the effect you're invisioning.
