So I just picked up my first large tank off of craigslist yesterday and the trim on it is light oak. I would like to change the trim to black if possible, because oak would not look very nice in my living room.

What would be the easiest way to change trim color? I don't really want to paint/spraypaint it. Do they make trim that clips onto the old tank trim?

I guess you could wrap it in electrical tape
but I would paint/spraypaint it.

you can replace the trim if u would rather but it would be more work. cciaquarium.com is the cheapest place ive ever found by far. call him for retail prices cuz he only has wholesale listings on his site. but its only a couple bucks more than prices listed. if you paint it sand it with rough sand paper and then a fine grit first to get the paint to stick real good. or else it will just flake off over time.

I don't think electrical tape would look all that nice. Maybe I will just have to spraypaint it.

Yeah that's where I was headed.

you can buy black vinyl wrap by the foot from companies like 3m with adhesive on the back. The only problem there is finding long thin pieces. Most companies sell square and rectangular pieces so there would be many seams but if you take the time it will barely notable. This goes for people with black tank trim that want wood grain or oak also. Good luck

I just painted mine black, but I can see the brown on the inside of the trim inside the tank which bugs me :nilly:

If I was planning on making this my "show tank', I would have bought new trim like mentioned before.
