Hi all, it has been a long time since I've been on MFK (largely due to job changes), and lately I've lost a lot of my passion for fish keeping. This tells me that it's time for a change in my 75. I want an amph (red isletas to be specific) to be honest but refuse to part with Brutus (the hrp in my profile pic).

Tank currently is as follows:

1 Oscar (9" hasn't grown in 9 months)
1 hrp rio danli (4-5" male) Brutus (keeping)
2 cutteri rio jutiapa (both 4" males)
1 hrp rio danli (1.5" male)
1 spotted Raphael (3.5" had for 3 years)

I know I want to keep my larger hrp, suggestions on tank mates? I'm open to South American as well as centrals, and am aware of the possible aggression issues with Brutus claiming the tank as his.

Thank you for all of your help, I just want to keep my passion alive and fresh.

i think with the stock you have,it is full.the oscar will probably hit a growth spurt unless its stunted.maybe re-scape the tank,if your bored with the look.DW,pfs, some bigger river rock,a new background.or you could trade the oscar and the others, keep your brutus and try to introduce new tankmates

Hey Virgil, sorry if I confused people. I wish to possibly trade all the fish except Brutus and the catfish. Basically starting semi-fresh

No worries.how about a female HRP and try breeding him? I always love watching the parental behavior.or a school of fast dithers-BA or columbian tetras, rainbowfish or 3 SD.you can try a few small growing cichlids, but sounds like if he owns the tank, it might be hard to add

I like the breeding idea, just have to find a confirmed mature female rio danli. I've kept SDs before, they were always skittish unless I had giant danios with them. BA tetras sound awesome, especially because I'd like to stay in the Americas (though I'd love a shoal of tiger barbs).

I would ditch the Oscar and go for an a. robersoni. Believe me you will not be disappointed in them. They are beautiful, not shy, and aren't that aggressive. They get 8-10'' max, so a good fish for a 75g.

You should be fine. I've kept 3 HRP breeding pairs in a 150g w/ the robertsoni. My biggest male HRP measured 5". I would worry about that Oscar eating your HRP in the long term. Here is my 10" robertsoni female.

That's a beautiful fish

Would a robertsoni work well with perhaps BA tetras for dithers?

Thanks, and yes. The robertsoni might ignore the BAs altogether. They are substrait shifters so a sand or fine gravel substrait would be best. They like a meaty diet, so blood worms, and a quality sinking pellet are good for them.
