Channa amphibeus

it is barca for sure ...

I've heard that amphibeus is just a description of young barca ... is that true ?

The picture is that of barca but the Jap website says that it is amphibeus. Most likely it is because the person is thinking that channa barca and channa amphibeus is the same species.

There are two websites that state that channa barca had been confused with channa amphibeus in the past, which implies that they are not the same species:

ICUN Red List of Threatened Species - Channa amphibeus
which states, "
the species has been confused in the past with
C. barca."

Another website: http://www.fishbase.org/summary/Channa-amphibeus.html which states "...
Has been confused with Channa barca."
So channa barca is not channa amphibeus; the picture is that of barca and NOT amphibeus.

I agree, this isn't a Channa amphibeus. However, Channa amphibeus is one of the most rarely channa species out there. Few have ever experienced a clear picture of it.
