I got these fish eight days ago. I witnessed some mock spawning after about 3-4 days in the tank, and today a two-some turned into a three-way (around 1:40) and all five were trying to get down. I was hoping for a pair, but ended up with a bunch of dirty debutantes.
Just to be clear, I believe that this is just more mock spawning, but I may have to bring them on Maury to see who the daddy is if I end up with babies in the next few days.

That they keep that orgy like is what is interesting. Would expect a duo to form and the rest to be quickly dispatched, at least to a corner...

Very interesting indeed. I have a few other channa pairs, and I have never witnessed anything like this, or heard any reports of similar behavior. Although it's a poor video, I'm just glad I was able to capture it.
As of today, there is a dominant pair that swim freely together while all of the others hide. I'll be moving the others to a separate tank this afternoon and putting them up for sale.
I'm very excited to have a pair formed without any fatalities yet.

Wow, that's very interesting. a great video of courtship and spawning behavior but I would not expect them to go on like that so peacefully very interesting too see, How big are they ? Also what temperature is the tank at ?

A pair swimming freely while the others forced into hiding sounds much more typical,

They are all around 7", give or take an inch for the smallest and largest. The temp is currently 70F (21C) and dropping.
