Channa Bleheri oxygen

Hi I have my Channa Bleheri in a 33 Gallon tank and the water surface is full of floating plants like duckweed, water soilders etc and because of this I have my filter flow set to the lower section of the aquarium. I know the are a labyrinth fish but would it be better to have surface agitation?

Channas come up and gulp air so just make sure to not fill the tank completely
