How do i sex juviniles, is there a fool proof way to do so? i have heard thing like head shape and spots on the dorsal fin mean its male. of the six that i have 4 have a definite spot on the fin one has a very faded spot and one has no spot. And at what size do they start to pair off?
Cheers,
Jordan

No. I had spots on both my female and males dorsal fins.
Also, spots fade in adulthood.
Bleheri are incredibly difficult to sex.
Of my pair, my male has a broader, flatter head and my females head is more bullet shaped.
But even this difference is very barely noticable.

Females tend to be smaller than males, and in my experience a little more colorful.

Hi,
as tokyo already said, its very hard, enen impossible to tell the easy wy which gender bleheri are.
The dorsal spots are not a sign of any gender, they are a sign of juvenile Channa, lots of species have these. Headshape is the only thing to get a bit of a clou what gender the fish has

Here is bleheri pair from above

The difference is very small, and it was first visible when they were mature (16-18cm)
