My mom and dad and my brother and sister might be moving up to Maryland, legal snakehead world. So being a MFK'er, I want one, a Channa Bleheri, or Rainbow Snakehead to be exact. So can you guys tell me some info on them. Id love to pick up 1 or 2 or 60... Are they solitary fish, are they ok with plants, what do they eat(live fish or like shrimp of pellets or stuff) and other info on how to keep them happy.

Also, price can be a factor. I really really want to know what you people in maryland pay for your snakeheads. Are they alot or like 2.99 or 9.99 or what? Even If your in Maryland and you didnt buy a Bleheri, and you have a differnt species if SH, what did you guys pay? Thank you for all your help!:D

C. Bleheri is a drwaf species of snakehead that grow to about 8". But sometimes a lot smaller. Do very well in groups and love plants. I don't have any right now but have owned a couple before. Fed them frozen bloodworms, FD krill, pellets, feeder goldfish etc. More varied the diet the better. Just remember to seal all openings. I've lost a few bleheri's like that.

I wish these guys were legal cuz I want some! :irked:

Spot on :D

The Rainbow snakehead, Channa bleheri, is a species of snakehead. Its type location is Dibrughar, the most north-eastern area of Assam, India.

Among these small snakeheads(dwarf) it is the only nestbrooder; all others are mouthbrooders.

The water hardness plays a minor role with respect to the compfrt level of the fish you want a medium-hard water (20 dGH)

You wont find them in Maryland.... Chances are the only species you will find is gachua. It is still a federal law to transport them over state lines.... So in that case if you found a bleheri in Maryland it is probably going to be 60.00+ for a small one, thats IF you find one... They are not available in pet stores (well, you might find gachua and red lines) but nothing like a bleheri!

How much would a gachua be? And arent red lines micropeltes? And I thought giants are illegal everywhere, but I could be wrong...

gachua maybe 50.00-150.00 if you find them. Yes, reds are micros which are illegal in Maryland.. It is going to be hard for you to find snakeheads in any state in the USA...

So this isnt easy as I thought it was going to be. In your sig I see you have 11 bleheri. You in the US, if so whered you get them? Thank you, Andrew.
