I have a mini reef tank which does my nut in a little bit and I fancy stripping it from marine to freshwater , the garage its in is quite warm due to my other tanks so I was thinking maybe a smaller species of channa could go in there.

Loads of plants, no heater so temp up and down with season

Its been years since I really kept them and bred Orientalis and pulchra and kept asciatica, bleheri, aurantis etc

This tank is quite small and I am out of touch so what channa do you think that are quite readily available that I could keep in there

Thanks

Hi
It says in the title :) 21x21x24"
😂 My bad man, one of those tired days.
Technically your volume *should* be appropriate for one of the smaller breeds.
However I believe they do better in a tank that is more oblong, though others may disagree.
Many of them are from waters without much of a temp flux. Channa Orientalis for example hails from water that stays between 25 to 27°C.
Do your research based on your tank's specific temperature fluctuation if you intend to keep it exactly as is, its size and the species you decide on!
I'm sure you'll figure it out as you've bred them before. Best of luck🍀
