I'm after some advice, on sunday afternoon I came to the tank and my channa lucius had gone really dark and was laying on his side at the bottom of the tank, half an hour before hand he had been swimming around like normal looking the same as usual, so I don't know what could have struck so suddenly. I moved him over to another tank and he's been completely immobile since then. the only theory I have is that he's jumped and hit the glass lid and given himself brain damage, not sure what else could strike so suddenly with no other warning signs.

Do you happen to have a picture available?
What temps do you keep him at?

he's at 23c at the moment but the tank he was in when he fell ill was @ 25c the top picture is what he's looking like now, sorry for the poor quality, there's no light on this tank so the flash just brings up the dirt on the outside of the glass. i rested him in that postion to get better access to the atmospheric air024.JPG and this is what he looked like a few hours before I found him at the bottom of the tank026.JPG

Eh, I'll have to pass on this one, D -DC- may know.
Even tho the tank looks small, I don't think it could cause that.
Temps look fine, depending on where he's from, so i'm at a loss.

yeah he's in the right temp range, tank size shouldn't be an issue, he was in a 5x2x2 the hospital tank is smaller at 3x1.5x2 but still plenty of room as he's only 6-7" anyway. If he starts moving again I can always raise the water level.

It's hard to say what could be causing this. If it is the result of smashing into the lid then you should see white patches where the slime coat is damaged . Are there any signs of injury?

Also just as a side note moving channa is VERY stressfull on them. In the future I'd recommend leaving them in the origional tank for recovery .

I would have left him where he was but my bichirs probably would have eaten him if I had. there doesn't seem to be any visable damage either.

What happened leading up to his colour change ? Did u feed ? Water change? Add anything to The tank? Etc.
