As I keeper of these majestic fish once before I just wanted to share an experiance that I had today at a lfs .I was at the store and was looking around for some plants for my tank and I came across a 30 inch gsh and it was in the smallest tank ever maybe tops 100 gallon the fish had to go vertical to turn around. I just inquired about it cause I felt really bad as it needed a way bigger tank .the person came back and said it was given to the store as they dont buy big fish off anyone and they were selling it for $250.00 with no gaurentee what so ever .I laughed at the salles person and said so someone gave this fish to the store and u guys are selling it for 250 plus tax with no gaurentee that's ridiculous . I wished my big tank was still filled and running as I would have bargained the price and took it home .I just feel really bad for that fish and it just goes to show how people just buy fish without doing reasearch on them cause they are cool and then just dump them off at the lfs .I sorry if this isn't for this fourm just had to get this off my shoulders .

Happens all the time and last time I was in Calgary there was a couple pet stores with giant snake heads in small tanks and I am pretty sure a couple of the snake heads had hole in the head. It's either pacu, redtail cat, oscars or snake heads that you see getting returned to the pet stores when people can't care for them because they were too dumb to research them first.

Worst part is half the time people do research, know it'll out grow them and buy it any way saying "they will sell or rehome the fish when it get too big" rather then just buying fish that are appropriate sizes
