channa micropeltes in australia

Gday all,is there any aussies out there who have seen,kept or can get channa micropeltes? ive only ever seen two in my time.

some channa sp. are here but are noxious and highly illegal in all states.

Yeah i know they're noxious,just interested in them.i saw one at a lfs a year ago it was in a 10x3x3 and it was pushing 3ft! Awesome sight! it was thicker than a baseball bat! They're around, just very hard to get.

Do you remember which LFS was that? I've only seen gars, not snakeheads here. I'm really interested in getting some small channas, like gachua or bleheri. Seems like an ideal fish to keep (small size, hardy, attractive, aggressive), as long as they are never ever released.

Never heard of any of the dwarf snakeheads in Oz, only redlines and maybe argus. Given their noxious listing I'd be extremely suprised any LFS would have one on display.

You mean you have seen channa around or the other? Im keen on some too if anyone knows where some are. Plenty of gar and Pbass (not that bass have teeth) around but not many channa. Ive seen one pair or Orientalis for sale for 2000 but thats it.
