Hi guys .I have a group of 4 pulchra and in feeding them a mixed diet i tend to have bits of live shrimp worms etc left on the bottom of the tank from what they spit out or sometimes miss...looking for a scavenger and thought of maybe putting a panther crab in there to do the job. ..Question is will i end up with a dead crab aswell or do you think it will be ok ?? My tank is running without a heater but averages 22-25c so am i the region for both but also needing ideas for something else if this is just a stupid idea haha

Crab would be targeted as prey and will end up as a crunchy meal.

raphael catfish could work.

I would never recommend mixing anything with channa , odds are any mix will eventually end badly. Some fish might last longer then others but eventually the channa will get them.

How much and how often are you feeding ? In my experience Channa are gluttons , if any noticeable amount of food is being left behind your likely over feeding them .

I feed them twice a day once in the morning and once in evening... Its not so much left over food but like with the dried shrimp they eat it and sypthon parts of it out through their gills or bits out of the mouth..i varie the diet with worms and live shrimp also but as the shrimp i get are river shrimp are in brakish water they dont last long in the tank so the ones that dont get eaten die overnight... Im not talking loads just like 5-6 maybe but just wanted.something that could get rid of them to save me scooping them out

Instead of finding twice a day... please consider feeding every 2 days.
Channa (specially subtropical ones) don´t need to be fed so much; as a matter of fact it is not good for their health
