Channa Pulchra ??

Hello all,:)

Have one Channa pulchra but planned to get another as tankmate. I know that`s not so easy but how can you notice if one is male or female. I do hear different things,so if anyone can tell me........please:help2:
 
I wish i could help i have 2 that are a pair i still wonder which is which sometimes. My male has a much larger dorsal fin, however if they were seperated i would struggle to differentiate them.

Channa like to choose their partners so if your tank is big enough buy three or four more and let them decide for themselves. Buying a male and a female and putting them together doesn't mean they'll bond....unless your lucky that is!
 
Hi,

outlander is right. Choosing one male and one female normally ends in one dead fish. I had tow pairs of pulchra (gave one pair away) and the only thing to decide the sex was the dorsal.

Hi,they are better off if they choose their own mates,that is buying 4 to 6 specimens and letting pair off.
 
At what age can you see that it`s an He or a She??

Second thoughts. The heavy jaw spotting and double dorsal spots nearly had me fooled there for a minute!

this baby pulchra is way too small to tell, but I suppose its a female.
