Hello to all Monster keepers.

I Wish your monsters well :)

This is my first post here and I wanted to present my Channa sp. Green fantasy, from Meghalaya. This seems to be a variant of Stewartii and yet to colour up in my tank. The Channa is surprisingly docile towards the 5 yoyo loaches in it's tank, but will gulp any fish dropped in other than that.

Here is the FTS:

Need to add more floating plants. Suggestions welcome.

I stay in Bangalore (Karnataka,India) and there are many Channa habitats around me, the nearest being just 70km away from home! Hope to be an active participant in this forum and learn stuff!!

Cheers,

Karthik

Very nice Karthik!
This being another variant of Stewardtii from Meghalaya, is it similar to the "Meghalaya leopard"?
As regards the floating plants, I have been using Lemna minor and pistia.
Pistia (water lettuce) deteriorates in a couple of months so I would not recommend it. Lemna is ok.
You may also try "water sprite /Indian fern (Cerathopteris thalictroides ). It should be easy for you to pick it up. Some of the channas keepers in this site recommend that plant as they´re having very good results with it. I am getting some this weekend to subsitute the pistia

a nice Stewartii!

Thanks Joao. Yes, Indeed, they are easily available. Will re-do the setup. :)
a nice Stewartii!

Miguel: It seems that there are a lot of variants of the Stewartii. I will keep posting and give an update once he colours up :)

Cheers guys,

Karthik
