Only because the aquarium has permits. They were hard to photograph! Low lighting + not being fond of the camera = more work than expected. They were a good 30 inches, at least! So, here are the Channa argus.

They're at the Virginia Beach Aquarium. The new Restless Planet exhibit is awesome!

We just saw them this past Sunday! Crazy!

I was a little disappointed with some parts of the remodel, especially the reef tank, but the tank with the gar and sturgeon was awesome, and I really enjoyed seeing these snakeheads.

I was expecting the reef tank to be a bit bigger, but those eagle rays were impressive! One of my school friends works there, mainly with the rays.

The gar and sturgeon were awesome!!! They were in flawless condition. The bowfin looked a little beat up. The terrapin are the show stealers in that tank, such comical little turtles. I'm going to post the rest of the pictures tomorrow. I've got some great shots of the gar (very easy to photograph, if the terrapins were distracted)!

These guys were my favorites! Other people just kinda walked right past them. I don't think they know what they were.

I noticed that the bowfin looked like someone was nipping his fins, as well. You're absolutely right about the turtles.

I'm looking forward to seeing your pics, because we forgot our camera and didn't want to drive back home in the bad weather to get it!

I volunteer at the Living Museum, and I have to say, I like our touch tank WAY better than VA Beach's. The setup just didn't make any sense at all -- it looked awkward.

It did, poor girl (no eyespot on caudal fin).

That's awesome! I go to school right down the road from the living museum! I still haven't been over there! I do like the rays in their tank. One of the cownose rays ran head first into my arm trying to get my attention and a back rub, it was hilarious!!!!

Haha those rays were super-fast. They weren't making those turns very well at all -- when a big group of them got around to the bend, there was a pile-up!

I looked into going where you go, but ended up going to William and Mary, instead. More of a drive, but I like it. I'm 26, so a little older than the traditional student, and I just felt like W&M was a better fit.

You've got to visit the VLM... we've got so many awesome tanks. I think you'll be blown away and have no idea why the heck you haven't been down to see us yet!

That's always funny to watch! One of the southern rays managed to haul himself halfway out of the water when begging for food.

CNU does seem to be a very youth oriented school, probably has to do with Trible's target audience.

I have no idea why I haven't been yet. The paddlefish have been calling me for years now. The Megalodon exhibit looks awesome!

The Paddlefish are the only thing I wouldn't boast about... They always have a problem. To me, it looks like they're constantly running their noses along the glass, or something, and so the end of their bill thing is always torn up and like an open wound. That part of the museum always smells like Melafix.

Honestly, though, other than that, it's wonderful LOL you had to bring up the only thing I have a problem with in the whole VLM!
