Hi all, would like some advice on types of channas, i kept one years ago in a tank with lots of other large fish with no problems is this the norm or was i lucky.
anyway i would like to keep them again but yet to chooes what type!

depends what size tank and how much money you have!

money no option...go with the Channa ornatipinnis
Channa aurantimaculata - very very pretty! :D i saw one of these at the LFS last week were doing it for only £50

or is your a cheap skate my fave are Channa sp.'Assam blue'

the blue channa, is that the one that only gets to about 8in?

not got the tank for them yet, i will get that after i pick the fish.
i plan on starting them in a small tank, but whatever i pick must be ok in a tank no bigger than 6ft 2ft 2ft

yeah sometimes called rainbow snakehead...don't get past 20cm captive

Channa gachua is also a small channa and quite affordable

^and they're so pretty

are thay very active? and can u keep then in a group?

what about the red channa? i have seen alot of them about, i know thay lose the color when as they grow and thay get big!!!!

yeah they are ok not my faves but yeah! :D aslong as u have a nice big tank as it grows...true monster fishy!

cool thanks for the info, are they best kept in a group or on its own?
