My channel cat has been in the same spot for 2 days now and I was wondering if this is normal behavior. I move the rocks where he is hiding to see if he's alive and he moves but later returnes to the same spot. Does he just like the cover? At night I have seen him move sometimes and was wondering if he does not move during the day because he is nocturnal. I add feeder guppies and Ghost shrimp every 1 or 2 weeks for him and the JD and they seem to be disappering when I turn on the lights the next morning so I assume he's eating. Thanks for the Help.

If hes new in he might not be used to the tank yet? maybe he's a nocturnal, iv got a syno thats just like that.

Channels are very nocturnal. They will hide for most of the day, and come out at night when they are hungry or excited. It's good that he has a hiding spot. You don't have to worry about spooking him as much. Your fish is exhibiting normal behavoir. He is probably indeed very healthy! Just turn on a very dim light or a light in another room and let your eyes adjust to the darkness and go watch your catfish hunt one night! I do it all the time with my cats. Catfish seem very lazy to us cause we only see them with the lights on and they are resting then saving their energy for their nightly hunts. You are missing out on a whole other side of your fish behavoir. Check them out one night. Also note it might take them a little while to start stirring around the tank. So give it 30 mins or so before you check in on all the action. You will be suprised at how much they move around. It's like the difference between night and day! lol. Good luck!

turn on a small night light or something and turn off the aquarium lights and all other lights. the go up to the tank and you'll see him swimming...or get a bvlack light. i used to have two albino channels and a black light...looked awesome!

Black lights work even better when your fish are covered in ich! Looks like they have tiny stars all over their bodies! ummm, yeah, but hopefully your fish don't have ich. Good luck!
