I did a water change yesterday and the tank looks 100 times better. Here they are enjoying the clean water...

Nice cats but do you have any plans for a bigger tank? That tank is way to small for a fish that has the potential to grow up to be over 3' and 20 lbs. Also what are those lesions on the smaller cats sides? I'd get much smaller gravel for the tank thats probably why you have the cloudy water with all the uneaten food and fish waste that settles down inside the rocks even if you an UGF.

well, the UGF wasnt on until a day or two ago. It was just there for a while and i replaced the air stones and got a new pump and it powers it now and it cleared the water up a lot. But the small fish cut his side on the hood. Sometimes when they go up for food they will turn around and when they go to swim back down their tail will slap the hood. Ive been watching that cut very clost to make sure it doesnt get infected or anything. Also, i plan on getting a bigger tank asap. When i fist joined MFK my tank looked horrible and it was being filtered with a bio-filter 100. I upgraded my filtration by a lot, now they just need a home. I just started out as a dumb nood as many others and I didnt know these fish would grow this fast and now im trying to catch up to them.

EDIT: I also scoop out any uneaten food as i watch them eat. They eat those floating pellets, so any that they dont eat, its very easy to net out. I used to overfeed them and i had a hard time clearing the tank from that, but ever since i learned a little my tank is better. I also siphon the food and stuff off the bottom with the water changes

thanks, what food would you suggest. Im trying to get them on market shrimp, but i still have to put their pellets in the shrimp before they realize its food
