Just got a young pair of channel cats (6-7"), and I'm wondering what size tank they'll need in the long run, and also how long it should take for them to finish growing?

Thanks in advance.

They'll need a pond. They can grow fast if on the right diet. 1lb a year.

Um??? The world record was only 58 pounds.

OP: expect for a fish that gets 30-40 inches long. Usually they average in that range.

roughly 1st year about 1.5' and 5 lbs
2nd year - 2'-2.5' 15-20 lbs
3rd year - 3' ~30 lbs

that how mine went in a 4000 gal indoor pond

in the wild they max out at ~3.5' and up to 60 lbs

they are the most farmed fish in North America for a good reason because they turn 1 lbs of high protein food into 0.5 lbs of body mass in the first year or so!
