Hi all,
The LFS had in some Yellow Tails, Red Tails, and this one that I can't put my finger on. They are only 1.5-2" and mislabeled as RTs.

Thanks.

Thanks. You may be right.

I'm leaning towards, Acestrorhynchus Nasutus. There is some red on the tail, if you can blow up the photo. It's very difficult to tell when they are so small.
Does anyone else have some input?

Yeah I saw the red onthe tail. also if u blow it up notice how the upper jaw protrudes past the lower jaw. I read somewhere that that's a characteristic for isalines but tbh I don't know for sure only time can tell... What r they priced at?

I think that most of the Acestrorhynchus species, including A. Nasutus, have a longer upper jaw (maybe A. Isalinae is more noticeable?). I didn't pick them up yet; wanted to get an ID first, but they're priced at $25 each. I could probably get 5 for $100. I would probably take 5-7, but I really like the look of the YTs.

was this at big al's? They had a bunch in when i visited In Kitchener. Tiny ones.

No, I'm on the West. We don't have Big Al's here anymore. Do you recall what they were labeled there?

Never seen those guys before other than in a book and I have been keeping predatory fish since 1987. I would buy every single one of them. Period. Awesome.

I like your enthusiasm, Zeke. They are certainly tempting.
But if they are Acestrorhynchus Nasutus, Fishbase has them listed with a max size of 3", which is too small for me. If it's Acestrorhynchus Isalinae, the max size is only about 4", which is still too small.
