saw this one it didnt have a price but he said it dosnt get along with anyone. maybe thats why its so beat up. he said something about dorado, but im not sure if its a dorado.

never stops swimming, not like other characins that hover at one location
it'll torpedo towards other fishes that don't fight back.

Agreed. Looks like Brycon dentex. Also resembles Oligosarcus spp., but from where John was obtaining his specimens it's likely B. dentex.
