charcoals??

atheres charcoal filters right? well is the charcoal u use in the filter the same as u use to cook food with? if that makes any semce at all but yeh, ive been wondering this for along time..

Read up. In our aquariums, it has it's uses. You don't have to have to running in your filter all the time, it's just a waste of money. It's nice for making water a little clearer (in most tanks this isn't needed), but in tanks with a lot of wood and plants, it helps to clear out tannins and stuff. It's also nice to get rid of medication the water if you are done treating a sick fish.

Save yourself some cash, don't do it.

should've clarified, Activated Carbon is sometimes known as Activated Charcoal... same thing.

Ever got your stomach pumped? You know that crap they shoved down your throat afterwards? Might as well ground up and sterilized some AC that you use for your filter and saved yourself some money... it's the same stuff.
