chcolate cichlid?

what would get along with a chcolate cichlid? It can't be a blue acara or any thing to aggressive. Tank size 55gallon.

acaras would be my choice for the most part, perhaps even some of the smaller acaras like Krobia

You mean a rainbow cichlid?

rainbow cichlids are great tankmates, though small. Thorichthys species could work out too since you're considering smaller CA's

I would personally go with one of the following (not one of each of course!!): port cichlids, blue acaras, smaller Aequidens like A. patricki, A. metae, A. diadema, or A. sp. 'Jenaro Herrera' ... smaller saxatilis pikes like sp. 'Bellycrawler' or C. proteus, C. menezesi ...
