Having searched high and low for the perfect 3d backing, I decided to use real slate split face tiles. They are stuck on with gold label sealant (love it, wonderful stuff). The individual slate pieces are held together with epoxy. The tank is 43" X 28" X 17". I already had a tube of gold label and the tiles cost £28. Now I just need to keep it clean!1370426

How has this been working out? Hard to clean? How hard would it be to take
these tiles off should you change your mind? Thanks!!

It's going great :) I don't let my NO3 go above 10ppm so algae growth has been slow and the flagtail makes short work of what little algae does grow. If I wanted to take the tiles off it would be an absolute nightmare lol! I think I'd rather get a new tank than try. P.s. please excuse the terra cotta pots, they are temporary until I make some matching slate caves :)

I would leave the pots. This is one of the very few times I have seen tc pots in a tank that actually looked good.
