Cheap DIY Stands!

I am thinking of getting a 4 foot fish tank, but it doesn't come with a stand. So I want to make one.

What are cheap alternatives to using stuff like pine which can be quite costly, and perhaps doesnt require too much skill because I suck in wood work!

just get some 2x4s and maybe a couple 4x4s for the legs and then stain or paint it

actually I have been noticeing how stands are built that the sell in the stores and 2X4's are strong enough! the stand for a 265 is made only out of 3/4 - 1" plywood. (I havent actually measured the exact thickness but its in that range)
