well while we were grocery shopping i was looking for some shrimp and such for my rtc, well what i found was salad shrimp,18g protein, vit a, vit c, calcium and iron, 4 oz for only .99 cents, than here is the big one. scallops, protein 36g, cholesterol, sodium, carbs vit a, vit c, calcium and iron, 4 oz for only .99 cents. well the cat loves them and what i do is feed one shrimp and about a 1/3 of a scallop about 2-3 times a day. i also asked the butcher about beef heart and he has ordered me some, at only like 60 cents a pound i will be able to make out really good on feeding.

Awsome! I've been feeding my Oscar's scallop's and shrimp for about 2 weeks. They have plumped up a bit there color is awsome. I've also gotten my peacock bass onto thawed and peeled shrimp! Can you let me know how the beef heart works out?

i sure will, i am actually going to mix a few things and try and make almost a miracle grow and some stuff to help with color, i will post recipe when done and i will be sure to post pics.

Asparagus has made everything from oscars to adonises grow really quickly IME. You could incorporate it into your food if you plan on blending all this and gelling it, or just feed it straight. Most fish prefer it steamed, and mostly just the head of the stalk. But most fish eat it after a few tries. Canned is fine to save $$, just rinse and soak it in tank water for a few minutes to get out most of the salt and sugar.

I got squid rings at the grocery outlet. A 5-ish lb bag for $5.00. I steam it quickly and feed it sparingly, I'm kind of a skimper on protein since I've lost a couple of fish to bloat.

where in NC are you finding scallops 4oz for a dollar???

i live in wake forest, we shop at foodlion, if it is not something you can recieve let me know and i will grab you some up, just send me the money and pay for shipping. i could probably ship about 15 bags for like 10 bucks.
