While I was at a local computer store today, Microcenter, I found LED light strips very similar to what I had considered buying on ebay for $30 shipped. I bought two strips for $4 a piece. They also had cathode tubes for $2, but no blue left. The only tricky part was that they came with molex connectors I had to cut of and splice to an old DC converter I had from an old cordless phone. It looks great at night, on the dim side because I used a 9v converter instead of a 12v, so it doesnt drive the fish nuts. Heres a pic of one of the strips. My camera wasnt sensitive enough to get a shot of the aquarium in the dark.

yup 12V. made with some stuff i had laying around.

That was definately worth the $8. I am finally able to see my pleco do something other than hiding in caves. Its amazing how active it is at night, and the other fish behave differently as well. I watched for about an hour last night, totally new expierence.

hmmm. I payed 30 dollars for my led light, I think it looks great but that is a lot just for one.
