Cheap methods of stress relief for fish

I know there are ways to take chlorine out of the water, using sodium thiosulfate or hiposulfite or whatever. I was wondering is there a chemical or something i can use as a stress relief while doing water changes? I could go and buy seachem stressguard or equivalent but im intrigued to see if there is a cheaper solution. Ive tried looking everywhere online, so any help here would be fantastic. Just as a disclaimer, its not that i always stress my fish out lol, its more of a "just in case" thing. Thanks in advance

Do you use a dechlor such as prime or safe?

No, i keep it in a large container with a bubbler and treat it with sodium thiosulfate and let it rest for 2 days before putting it in the tank.
