Cheap reliable heater

I bought a Whisper tetra submersible heater model 30-60 for fish and turtle tank nine months ago during March of 2009 with 2 years guaranty . . I have a 55 gallon tank with about 35 gallon of water. Its a 200 watt heater, working fine for the first 8 months of its life. Heats the temperature up to 85 when the knob was all the way up, 72 when the knob was all the way down. However right now when the knob is all the way up, It stops heating the water when it hits 78. There is no problem with thermometer because one of them is only 4 inches from the heater and i have another thermometer reading 1 degree lower at the other side of the tank. I emailed tetra hopefully the might send me a new heater . I was wondering if there is a cheap reliable heater under $25 that i can get if i send my heater to tetra?

i have the sme heater, what you can do is pull the adjustment knob off amd put it back on at a different angle. i think it IS a cheap reliable heater
