For those of you who avoid sand due to impaction fears I was walking around Lowe's yesterday waiting for some tile to be cut and saw some 16'x9' mats made out of the exact same material ReptiCarpet is for 14.99.

They come in green and brown, in the carpet/tile/flooring section by where all the floor mats are sold, they were called "indoor/outdoor mats" or something along those lines.

They were individually rolled up and then bundled into a wire bin - save yourselves some money =)

Cool!!!!! I trust Lowe's, that's where I get all of my wire from.

I used to buy this stuff from lowes that was indoor outdoor carpet only it wasnt the plastic kind. I am pretty sure that they called it marine carpet for boats. It came in 12 foot lengths by however many feet you needed, it was also fairly cheap and held up to being through the washer and dryer.

Now I just use newspaper, my snake is way too big to be worried about how the cage looks. Clean, sanitary and easy are what I strive for now. And for what its worth my snake has never complained either way. LOL!!

Ugh...I hate repti-carpet. Newspaper is cheaper and easier to deal with. I would never make my herps' tanks look like cheap, miniature golf courses.

Cheap minature golf course-NO.
The bottom of a birdcage? YES.:D

lol just like the evening newspaper printing facility though. If your using either, it's not to make it look pretty. I'd just choose the most disposable.

CORRUGATED CARDBOARD ALL THE WAY!!!!
I still am amazed that there aren't more people using that stuff. Disposable, biodegradable, doesn't leave ink smudges on your snakes bellies, holds up to liquid without disintegrating but is super absorbant, and looks better than newspaper. I use it in my big snake cages and it works excellent.
