i know there's alot of you ppl out there with what i call engenius ideas. so what will work for a pump that i don't need to spend too much money on? i have a 60 gallon on a stand and i was going to just use a powerhead but it won't pump up the 5 feet of tube that i have returning it to the tank. im not looking for any massive filtration maybe 100 gallon per hour

Look into the Quiet One pumps by Pentair. The smaller ones are great pumps and they are cheap.

They might have them, but I doubt it. Check out foster and smith's website.

+1. I just got another Quiet One for an Idea I'm working on. Great pumps for such little money!

The pumps at Harbor Freight are so inexpensive that they will make you nervous to use. But they are cheap enough to keep a spare of each size. I've been using them as emergency pumps, and in noncritical applications.

Then eventually I set up a saltwater system and used them temporarily just to get it going. That was two years ago and they are still going strong. That tank has three pumps on it. The sump's pump and another in the tank for current run continuously and an auto top off pump runs intermittently via a float switch. I'm impressed with all three.
