In my car
So I have an RTC, RTCxTSN, and Marble Acara in an 180gal tank, they get fed Hakarie Cichlid Gold, sinking alage wafers, worms, crickets, beef hearts, shrimp, scalops, tilapia filets, anything seafood counter has on sale. My Quetion is, is the cichlid gold really something i need to keep buying at 12.oo a bag or something like that. They eat a little of the Cichlid Gold every two days as a filler and then i give them a few shrimp or what evers on the menu. I fill like i change it up a lot and they get a lot of good nutrients. Is there something a little less cheaper that I can buy to use as a main filler staple?

just replace it with some cheaper cichlid pellets

See if you can find Aqua Stable at any of the LFS's in your area. It's a good staple sinking pellet, and it's sold in bulk (my LFS sells it for $3.99 per pound). Squid is cheap, and so is a big bag of fish fillets from a Save-A-Lot or one of those cheap grocery stores. Also, I must add my standard disclaimer that the RTC and TSN will grow to 3 to 4 feet each, and for both, you're probably going to need something in the range of 1200 to 1500 gallons.

Thanks for the disclamier ; ) i know and cant wait! and thanks for the advice, i just dint know if they would miss it at all? you know like if it was really benificial in any way.

My RTC grows quite well on the Aqua Stable, Hikari algae pellets, Hikari massivore, squid, fish filets, shrimp, etc. I say whatever you can get that's cheap and isn't something gross like hotdogs is good. Also, if you have any Oriental grocery stores or markets in your area, you can usually get a really good selection there, and it's not that expensive.

sikoko hey i lived in groton ct for 5 years when i was yonger, my dad was in the navy and we were station their, i hate it in ohio, and want to move back as soon as im finished with college here shortly. hows the weather been.

many members here order, and he has both floating and sinking pellets for cichlids and catfish as well, that range in size from tiny fry food, upto dog-food sized pellets for when your fish get real big.
