me and my fiance decided to challenge eachother this year and make eachother valentine gifts. anyway, during my hunt for parts and peices to construct her gift i found myself in a MICHAELS arts and craft store. i noticed that they carry the same plastic bamboo leaves that you find in pet stores, and in addition to that they carry lots of other types of plastic plants, grasses, vines, and leaves in all different sizes. everything was about a 3rd of the price that you would find in a pet store. i picked up a bunch of stuff, definately worth checking out if you have a Michaels by you.

yea, i was just in a michaels yesterday picking up some stuff for a DIY light fixture and noticed the plants too, certainly beats the prices at the pet stores, that's for sure

yes i wonder if the aquarium safe stuff sometimes is just a ploy!!?

Even petter place to shop is the local dollar store!

Mine has a selection of fake plants and each bunch. I currently have an oak leaf 'bunch' that I attached to some drift wood...Huge cover for $2. I had to pay $2.49 for some plastic hairgrass at the Wallmart and that stuff is tiny!

as far as i know they are made of the same exact plastic as the bamboo fancy plants and other plants you buy in a regular pet store. the color does not leach off, maybe if you used the fabric ones but i haven't. its almost like walking into "phoe" aquascaping heaven. LOL

I have used plants from Michaels for months wiith no bad issues whatsoever except for the issue that I now go to Michaels for plants rather than the local aquarium store.
