I need a project and I want en excuss to build some large wet/dry filters so im going to convert my old shed into a indoor pond. Its a nice strong shed but we never use it so im just going to add a wooden structure from wall to wall on the inside and use the other walls of the shed as the other sides of the pond. Then im gunna just use some plastic sheeting to seal it. After that I will cross my fingers and add water. Hopefully it will work but if it doesnt it wont really matter and ill find someway to fix it till it does. Should be fun and interesting either way! This is just going to be used over the summer to house natives that we will eat in the fall. Anyone know a super cheap type of plastic sheeting I could use? Pond liner is too $$$ and i dont need it to last that long.

I was thinking maybe a HUGE tarp? They are claimed to be water proof but im not 100% on that.

What are your ideas?!

I know that tarps suck and that they do not hold water long term like maybe a month if u are lucky i can't think of any cheap alternatives sorry.

You can get Visqueen (roll plastic film) from a contractors supply, or HD & Lowes.

Yea that was one idea I had. I work in at Custom Metals Fabrication (CustomMetals.com) And we have that stuff laying around.

The tarp is just so tempting because you can get them HUGE for like $5! Maybe if I do several layers of tarp???

Sounds like a great idea, how soon are you starting??

I know im just dying to get started! But I have to wait till it warms up...I had previously converted it to a pigeon coup that I used for training hunting dogs for several years but then I stopped hunting. It needs major cleaning and there is a good solid inch of bird dropping on about every surface of the interior of the building. Once thats done though :headbang2Its building time!

Any other super budget Ideas for the liner? and any other cool ideas for the pond in general?

I want to put a viewing window in but im not sure where to get some real thick glass cheap...ive tried craiglist...any ideas?

Any IDEAS!?!?!

dont use glass... i think acrylic would be better... idk though... als i think that if you used alot of layers of tarps it might work... idk for sure though tarps usually end up leaking or tearing..... good luck man... cant wait to see the pics
