Power compacts are about as cheap as you can get and still do soft corals. That sight doesnt seem to be cheap at all. Catalina aqaurium makes cheap fixtures that you can normally find on ebay for a decent price. They are flimsy, and look ugly, but the one I had got the job done and never gave me a problem.

Well, my lighting is from a hardware store, just some regular 6500k T5HO's and some actinic T5 tubes.. Fixed all of them in a hood and got it done in less than 60$.. Works fine for zoas, mushrooms, some lps and sps...

WOW these prices rock :headbang2 how can they sell stuff so cheap?
i know man the same 72" metal halide/PC combo lighting system would have costed 2 grand at my LFS (or anywhere else) yet there it's up there for $500

There had been some problems reported in the past with the metal halide ballast smoking, catching on fire, melting, etc on the older models. But, from what I understand from recent owners, the qaulity has increased ten fold.

I still hear complaints about their "10k" bulb for the halides being more like a 5k light spectrum. So you may wanna go ahead and buy some iwasaki bulbs while you are at it.
