Hello. I currently am running a AC70 and AC110 on my 55 gallon tank. I need to buy more media and was wondering where I could buy in bulk so it won't be so expensive. I currently buy the AquaClear brand BioMax, activated carbon, and foam. What do you guys use for media? And where do you buy the media from? Thanks in advanced

I get high quality ceramic rings from charlie from fishtankfactory. its like $3/lb if you buy more than 45lbs. I use it in my sump, fx5s, ac110s, 405. works great and cheaper than ~$10/lb from the store.

i run 2 biomax and 1 foam... so i just rinse the sponge real well every week or so and pop it back in.. same with the biomax. had the filter running about 6 monthes now and havent had to replace anything yet.

Seacheam Matrix works great for me. I have a heavy stock and my water had 15 ppm Nitrates before pothos, which I think is great considering the large amount of wastes. I am down to 5ppm nitrates. With the Aquaclear filters, I ran foam on the bottom and Seachem Matric in the middle anchoring the roots of the pothos hanging out of the top. The one place I buy food, filters and most importantly more media: www.kensfish.com

I have had great service and I can live with the fair prices.

If you do regular water changes, no need for carbon unless you need to remove medication or something else. Put two sponges in the AquaClears and rinse them out occasionally when you do a water change. Been using the same sponge media for 15+ years.
