Has anyone heard of this brand or used these filters? http://www.aquacrylics.com/aquarium_filters.htm
I'm thinking of buying one. It's the cheapest drop-in-sump model I can find (other than used or DIY). What I like is the fact that you can just lift it out for cleaning or when you want to upgrade the sump. This thing fits into all standard size tanks from 20g to 55g. Any thoughts?

Use 5 Gal Buckets and make a DIY. Hit the DIY forum, there are a ton of ideas in there that are a whole lot cheaper and just as effective. A rubbermaid bin and a couple of 5 gal buckets full of pot scrubbies = $25.00. Pool Hose and sleeves from the hardware store, around $15.00. They are cool, but I would rather spend money on tanks, they are a little harder to build.

I'm just picturing myself spending a few hours of time (between shopping and assembly) and $40 on parts for a DIY when I can have a pro-looking piece ready to go for $60. I've already got a 20g long I can use with it. The DIY section here is the bomb though, no doubt.

Don't forget you already have a huge sump sitting in my basement. We can convert that to a bucket filter for about $5.00 plus the cost of a pump. We can build you a DIY overflow for another $20.

Yeah but that thing won't fit in the stand. I alsmost forgot about that though, thanks for reminding me. I will need an overflow, I'll pm you when I get the wet/dry.

they may not cost much but there is nothing with it you still are going to have to buy more plumbing it looks like and all the media and pumps

I just found a used pro clear 75 wet/dry for cheaper than the Aquacrilyc and I think I might have to jump on it. Koop, you're right, the cost of an overflow and pump would be on top of that. I still kind of like that drop-in-sump filter though.

I like it to, I'm just cheap when it comes down to it, if I can DIY, I do. And since they sit under a tank out of sight I don't care about looking good, just working good. Best luck, and if you can a used one for cheap, do it.
