Cheapo CO2

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's the same as a DIY, but IMO a waste. The ladder doesn't do as much as a powerhead will. The cansiter is small, good for small tanks below 40 gallons. They sell you yeast in a 1/4 tsp amount for 7.99, and in the end it is the same ingredients for a DIY co2 reactor.

The one good thing about the co2 unit in question is the tubing... and that is it.

I just installed it a few minutes ago. Ruger, thanks for the positive words, but i am concerned about the bubbles actually going up the later. I guess I'll take a look at it tomorrow. I guess if worse comes to worse, i'll get a membrane diffuser or wood airstone or something.

BTW, any idea what the "stabilizer" is? or running it on my own yeast and sugar?

Thanks,
Brandon

I believe it is just a yeast nutrient, and not really necessary. Rather than getting a diffusor or airstone, hook it up through a powerhead, that will get better diffusion using a reactor than something that causes backpressure, and has nothing to slow the bubbles from going straight up.
