After about two months of letting my 75 gal tank cycle with giant diamos, getting the biological filter going i finally am happy with the water quality and clarity. Here is the list of African Cichlids and other fish i placed in my tank. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Also let me know if you think i will have problems with the mixture of fish.

--All the fish below, their size ranges from Small to Medium.
3 Yellow Labs
2 Electric Blues
2 Sunshine Peacocks
2 Clown Loaches
1 Gold Spotted Butterfly Pleco
2 Giant Diamos (because i could not catch them to take them back to the LFS :) )

I look forward to all the comments good or bad.

Thanks,
Sportsman

Get only one male Sunshine Peacock, and One Electric Blue. (Note you might want to start using there real names.) Aulonocara sp. "Stuartgranti Maleri" (Sunshine Peacock), and Sciaenochromis fryeri (electric blue)

Pick another peacock or two (males) that aren't yellow:

Pick out another male small hap (or two):

My suggestion would be a Lwanda (Peacock) and Protomelas sp. "Steveni Taiwan" (Albino or normal only one), and Protomelas taeniolatus.

Your Pleco might be eaten fairly quickly. (Or at least pecked to death.) Only really bristlenose do ok with malawis. (Your clown loaches will be ok, I have seen them work though personally I wouldn't just put them in.)

3 Yellow Labs could work

2 Electric Blues if 2 males one will kill the other, if male and female, not enough females and she will be killed by the male. You need 1 male and 2-3 females, or just a male.

2 Sunshine Peacocks Peacocks like to attack each other may work with enough hiding spots
2 Clown Loaches should work fine
1 Gold Spotted Butterfly Pleco could work but I hear they die easily.
2 Giant Diamos (because i could not catch them to take them back to the LFS :) )might be better to leave them in the tank to share the aggression.
This is just my opinion, no flaming please.

Personally, i would keep as few non africans as possible. First off, as the africans breed, they will quickly fill up the tank, even without other non africans. Second, i like biotope tanks :P I set up an african cichlid tank a few years ago, and it has worked out very well, but now i have 2 " plecos, which get along fine, etc, but they take up extra room that could be used for cichlids, and they are not biotopic. However, i do not have the heart to take a fish that can get 15"+ back to the LFS and have them stuff it in a 20 gallon tank. Finally, clown loaches can get really big (12"), and although it may take awhile, when they do get that big, or even close to that size, they will take up a huge amount of the bioload, and tha tank will be overcrowded. And i believe clown loaches should be kept in schools or at least 2 or 4 or more.

Either way, good luck :) But be careful, africans can be VERY mean ;)

The loaches will be happier w/ a group of 5-6+...
