Posted earlier about getting my 55gal tomorrow and i am going to use sand as the substrate. Anyway I was at the mall today and saw a convict for 15$ and fell in love ( he/she had babies in with them) So i figured once my tank is setup and cycled i will be able to get the babies.

So i was thinking of.....

2 Black convicts
1 Jack Dempsey
1 catfish (thinking of a cory of some kind)

Do you think that is overstocked???


If so how many convicts can i put into my 55g to make it a community tank?

That wouldn't be overstocked, no. Watch out for those convicts messing w/ that JD after they breed though.

Yea i know you should see some of their other prices, but thats really the only LFS that sells them.

Or i could buy them online and pay more with shipping

You will be fine. I have 2 convicts and a jack dempsey in my 55 gallon, and everyone gets along perfect.

My breeding pair of cons in my 150 chase everything off in my sig. Well, everything except the big male dovii that's about 8". He still tries to though. If they're not breeding then they should be fine.

Would 2 female or 2 males convicts be ok with a Jack?

Too bad your in PA or Id give you my breeding cons lol!!! You should be fine although if you want a Con community you should leave out the JD.
