Check out my first flowerhorn. He's quickly become my favorite fish!

Well guys new to hybrid cichlids and I gotta say this guy is just stunning. His tank has no lights on it. The only light this tank is getting at the moment, is from the garage lights overhead. I'm feeding him a mix of like 6 different kinds of high quality pellets. He's actually kinda shy and will sometimes hide in his pot when I approach the tank. Hopefully he warms up to me soon though.

Yes agreed with others, that's a beauty, let alone for your first FH -- nice score!

You might experiment with putting some kind of (even simple, like hanging cloth or colored plastic cardboard (dark blue or black) background -- it'll likely help him relax and settle in more quickly. Either way though soon I'll bet instead of being shy he'll be a red fire cracker protecting his digs, keep us updated.

It's nice how the blue, black and red run the lenght of the fish, creating a stripe effect. Nice looking flowerhorn.
